As the time in my life ebbs by, I find myself changing and seeking new ways to care for myself. I am not afraid of time passing, I accept it as it is, but am fully aware that it is happening. My son just got accepted into graduate school. My daughter will be building a house this spring/summer. My children are young adults, edging into their own lives, so of course time is one of those things I can no longer easily take for granted, as I once did in my youth. So although I am aware of the passing of time, I am also aware of the present moments that time still has to give me each and every passing minute, hour, day, month and year. Out of that awareness comes a decision to focus on my own self care, to ensure my time is experienced fully.

One of the many things I do to care for myself is to wear jewelry that I’ve made out of stones or beads that have healing properties. Black Onyx is my favorite stone. “A powerful protection stone, Black Onyx absorbs and transforms negative energy, and helps prevent the drain of personal energy. Black Onyx aids the development of emotional and physical strength and stamina, especially when support is needed during times of stress, confusion or grief.”

I wear my bracelets all of the time. I wear them during my Yoga practice and believe that they give me the strength and endurance I need. I wear them when I work, believing they help me cope with the emotional energy that my clients bring into the room with them, as well as protecting me and ensuring that my own energy is balanced and maintained. I wear my bracelets when I meditate, believing they help me achieve the stillness and peace I seek in those moments in time.

I wear my healing stones all the time. Because my time is my life, and I choose to live it as fully as I can, encompassing all that the earth and universe has to offer me.

Time may be passing, but it is also here now, in this very moment. Catch it and live. And if wearing a bracelet made of a certain stone helps you live bolder….wear it!
